Day 10 – Spitzkoppe

23 Sep

After a few hours completely at ease in the wilderness, exploring, drone flying, spotting wildlife and rock formations, it suddenly starts to feel different as the sun sets and I realise darkness will soon take hold with a very tight grip.

It’s a race to get a camp fire going before the sun drops behind the peak of Spitzkoppe…

Day 10 – Spitzkoppe

23 Sep

This camping spot is surrounded by more of the same in all directions. There’s nobody else here, just me, a distant Eagle, some sort of deer, and what my imagination wants to call a zebra but was probably a cow.

I flew Solo to get some aerial shots, found some ancient rock paintings, and haven’t seen or heard another soul for the past 4 hours.

All around is nature and geology at its finest, and it’s about to get very, very dark….

Day 10 – Spitzkoppe

Look really closely in the lower left hand corner and you’ll see my truck parked in tonight’s simply incredible camping spot under the rocky outcrops of Spitzkoppe that rise up out of the desert plains.
